Bylaws Summary
The Cochrane
Consumer Network
Every Cochrane review group aims to have members
who will represent the consumer viewpoint in deciding
which reviews are done, what questions they focus
on, and how the results are presented. “Consumers” are
most commonly defined as recipients of healthcare
(patients or clients).
The Cochrane
Consumer Network coordinates
the involvement of consumers within the Collaboration,
and works to ensure that the perspective and needs of
consumers are incorporated into Cochrane systematic reviews
and into the operation of the Cochrane Collaboration.
Access to The Cochrane Library:
All active consumers can now have access to The
Cochrane Library, even if you live in a country without
a national subscription. Through the efforts of Carol Sakala
and Liz Whamond (CCNet members), the publishers Wiley &
Sons and The Cochrane Collaboration, Cochrane consumers
can earn a subscription to The Cochrane Library by commenting
on reviews and protocols, co-authoring reviews, preparing
and commenting on review summaries and contributing to the
work of CCNet.
If you think you are eligible and would like to take up a subscription - write half a page about what you do as a consumer in the Collaboration and send it to:
ccnet-contact@cochrane.de.
If you don't think that you qualify for a subscription at present but would like to become eligible, please send an email to:
ccnet-contact@cochrane.de.
Consumers are needed to comment on review summaries and for other tasks within CCNet.
