The
Cochrane Library is a quarterly electronic
journal comprising a collection of evidence-based medicine
databases. The Cochrane
Library is available by subsciption, although
abstracts
of the Cochrane reviews and consumer synopses are
available for free through the Cochrane Collaboration
website. Various databases are available through The
Cochrane Library
although the exact content varies depending on an
individual's or library's subscription.
- The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews
is the main component of The Cochrane Library and it includes
protocols and reviews prepared and updated by the Cochrane Collaboration
review groups.
- The Cochrane Database of Methodology Reviews
comprises systematic reviews of methodological research on the
science of research synthesis and related topics, prepared by
members of the Cochrane Collaboration's Methodology Review Group.
- The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled
Trials (CENTRAL) is a bibliographic database of over 350,000
controlled trials (as of January 31, 2003).
- The Cochrane Methodology Register
is a bibliography of research and other articles on the science
of research synthesis an related topics.
- The Database of Abstracts of Reviews of
Effects (DARE) includes structured abstracts of systematic
reviews which have been critically appraised by reviewers at the
NHS Centre for Reviews and Dissemination in York and by other
people, e.g. from the American College of Physicians' Journal
Club and the journal Evidence-Based Medicine.
Also included in The Cochrane Library is a
Reviewers' Handbook on the science of reviewing research; a Glossary
of methodological terms and Cochrane jargon; and contact details
for review groups and other groupings in the Cochrane Collaboration.

Library including several online
training modules.
