Cochrane Review Groups Cochrane reviews are the principal product of the
Collaboration and are published electronically in successive issues
of The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. Preparation and
maintenance of Cochrane reviews is the responsibility of 49 international
collaborative review groups (CRGs), which are structured to cover
all of areas of health care. The members of these groups are researchers,
health care professionals, consumers, and others. Members of collaborative
review groups have access to training materials and software developed
by the Collaboration and to training workshops organised by Cochrane
centers and others.
Every group has an editorial base with a Coordinating
Editor and Coordiantor who organise and manage the day-to-day activities
of the group.
Each CRG has a "module" withing the Cochanre
Library where it defines its scope (ie, the types of health problems
it will address in its reviews; who has responsibility for planning,
coordinating and monitoring the group's work (a coordinating editor,
supported by an editorial team); how the group will identify and
assemble in a specialised register the studies relevant to its declared
scope; and who will take responsibility for preparing and maintaining
which reviews.
